National and International Clubs
Association of 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers
This national association is a must for anyone interested in 16mm scale narrow gauge on either 32mm or 45mm gauge track. Membership brings an excellent quarterly magazine and access to local groups and members all round Great Britain and some overseas.
The convention & AGM in March and Autumn convention at Elsecar (see Exhibition Diary above) are well worth a visit.

As it's name implies, this group is for those who prefer their railways of the 'G' scale variety. Also has an excellent magazine and annual convention/AGM.

'Steaming in your Garden'
A4 softback book by Tag Gorton, telling of the history and development of live steam models. The book also goes into the detail of how to look after and operate your live steam engines. It looks at all the main scales, 16mm, G-scale and Gauge 1.

'Live Steam Workshop'
There is an increasing range of live steam models from a number of manufacturers and the most popular of these can nowadays offer well-made locomotives from a price level that is attracting ever more newcomers to this delightful hobby. While attractive, powerful and reliable these less expensive models will generally however, come with a comparatively basic level of detail. This book will help the new locomotive driver to improve their model both cosmetically and functionally, often using inexpensive engineer designed third-party add-ons. The accent here is on simplicity and the book is designed for the average railway modeller rather than the model engineer.
