Part of main machine shop

Basic machined components are made in batches from a few hundred to as many as 20,000 for some common items. The machine shop has a mixture of plugboard automatic, CNC and manual equipment that copes with most situations.
Here we see the 'Tornado 80' CNC lathe complete with fully automated magazine bar feed that keeps the lathe fed with material. This machine features a 12 station automatic tool turret to enable it to carry out turning, drilling, tapping, and threading. Next to it is the Hurco VM1 CNC controlled vertical machining centre. This has a 16 tool automatic tool changer and makes all sorts of parts like cylinder blocks, valve chests and many other complicated components.
